Winter Hospitality Overflow Volunteer Opportunities at St. Andrew
Following the pandemic, volunteerism at St. Andrew has rebounded amazingly. Congregations and community partners are once again stepping up to cover full weeks of shelter duties—putting love into action through meals, presence, and care. While this enthusiastic response is terrific, it can sometimes make volunteer opportunities appear limited. The reality? Last-minute shifts and needs arise regularly, and we need our volunteer community ready to respond. To fill these openings while maintaining respectful communication (because nobody wants their inbox flooded!), we've created a simple, consistent scheduling rhythm:
Weekly Schedule Opens Every Sunday: The volunteer schedule opens every Sunday for the upcoming week, which begins the following Sunday. For example, on November 9, slots will open for the week of November 16-22. All WHO@SALC email subscribers will receive a friendly weekly email informing them of available time slots.
Please stay in the Loop for Urgent Needs: Follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/whoprogram for real-time updates, last-minute openings, and the latest news from the shelter. It's the best way to catch emergent needs as they happen and jump in to help right away.
Why This Matters: This approach honors both our WHO team coordinators and our commitment to our volunteer base, providing timely and organized communication for anyone seeking opportunities to serve our neighbors.
