St Andrew Tracker Pipe Organ Cole & Woodbury Bros. Relocated through the Organ Clearing House, Harsville New Hampshire. Rebuilt and enlarged by Jeremy Cooper, Concord, New Hampshire, 1996. The original location of the present tracker organ is not known. For many years it was in St Mary of the Bay Roman Catholic Church in Hull, Massachusetts, and was purchased by Jeremy Cooper on speculation when the Hull church building became redundant. The first organ owned by Saint Andrew was a one-manual and pedal seven-rank Detlef Kleuker tracker. Built for the residence of Dr. Hannah Leonhardt in 1969 it was relocated to St Andrew through the Organ Clearing House and served there until it was destroyed by the fire of August 1994. After the fire Jeremy Cooper and a crew from the Organ Clearing House then suggested the Cole & Woodbury instrument to Pastor David Hedman and organist David Nelson for use at Saint Andrew. Jeremy Cooper rebuilt and installed the ogan and it was dedicated December 15, 1996. Originally a nine-stop organ (Great: Open Diapason 8', Melodia 8'TC, Stop, Dia Bass 8'TC, Dulciana 8'TC, Octave 4'; Swell: Viola 8'TC, Flute Harmonique 4', Oboe8'TC; Pedal: Bourdon 16'), it now has twenty stops including two double-draw stops. Jeremy Cooper added a five-stop pedal chest; the full-compass Trumpet 8' replaced the original TC Oboe 8' and was a gift to the church from the builder. The pedalboard, bench, and lower side panels are new, the originals having disappeared many years ago. The case pipes, which had been mitered to fit the low gallery ceiling in Hull, were unmitered so the organ appears more as it did originally. |
