Sunday Morning Adult Classes,
9:45 am during the school year.

Come and See for Newcomers to St. Andrew. All those new to our church are invited to this class to learn and ask questions about Christianity, Lutheran beliefs and St. Andrew Lutheran Church. You’ll get to know other newcomers and share your joys and concerns. After these classes, you may continue in the Journey of Faith process to deepen your faith life and to become a member of St. Andrew. Led by Pastor Jim and Danette Leisle.

The Gospel of Mark: Awakening, Challenging and Nurturing Faith. Who is Jesus Christ and what is God doing in the world? This lively study of the gospel of Mark will explore these questions along with what it means to follow Jesus. This class is suitable for Bible beginners to Bible experts. Assigned weekly reading will be helpful, but not required. Cost: $20 donation for class resource book. Led by Pastor Martha.

Parenting Young Children With Love and Logic. Are you looking for techniques to help you raise responsible children who are a joy to be around? If your child is 8 or younger, join us for this “Love and Logic” class, where you will learn a fun and easy-to-use approach to parenting. The materials are designed to make learning the special techniques a highly entertaining and rewarding experience. Classes will feature videos by Jim and Charlie Fay, the founders of Love and Logic, followed by discussions that will answer questions such as:

  • How do I think up effective consequences?
  • How can I stop my children from bickering?
  • How do I handle the grocery store "gimme's"?
  • How do I help my children make responsible decisions?

Class leader is Jacqueline Stuhr, a trained Love and Logic instructor, who has many years’ experience as a parent, grandparent and St. Andrew preschool teacher. For those who can afford it, we are asking a $20 donation per couple for course materials.

Simple Living. A video series featuring Tony Campolo and Shane Claiborne in an intensely personal dialog about the foundations of the Christian life and voluntary simplicity. These six 12-minute presentations on various issues are especially relevant to young adults and the yearnings of today’s Christians. This pointed yet hopeful series is like listening to prophets of old echoing Jesus’ radical message. Tony Campolo, professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pa., is author of dozens of books and videos including Curing Affluenza. Shane Claiborne is one of Campolo’s students and wrote The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical. Beth Oliver and other member of the Guardians of God’s Gifts Ministry Team are the leaders and facilitators of this weekly discussion/small group.
