Jesus Calls Us…Come and See! Come and Grow! Come and Serve!
Vicar Ben Adams
My name is Ben Adams and I am a seminarian pursuing a position as an ordained minister in the ELCA. I just finished my second year of seminary at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago.
I was born and raised in Livonia, Michigan, living with my parents, my older brothers Nathan and Bill, and my younger sister,Laura. We attended Shalom Lutheran Church in Pinckney, Michigan, all my life.
Shalom developed my faith during my most formative years, and it has carried me through my undergraduate and graduate studies. After high school I attended John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, where I earned an MBA in finance.
During my years at John Carroll I continued to attend church at Bethlehem Lutheran, and I began to realize my call to the ministry. After I graduated from John Carroll in 2010 I began my seminary studies at Lutheran School of Theology. So far it has been an amazing experience, and each day I am learning and becoming more affirmed in my call to ordained ministry.
On Oct. 22, 2011, I married the love of my life, Tara. We met while we both attended John Carroll. This upcoming year of internship at St. Andrew will be exciting for us both, and we plan on making the most of it.
In my spare time I love to watch and play sports. I am an avid Detroit sports fan (sorry in advance to any Seattle or Portland sports fans). And while in college I participated in football and wrestling. I have remained active in the sport of wrestling as an assistant coach at the University of Chicago.
Besides coaching, I love to participate in games of pickup basketball and racquetball. If anyone wants to play, I am always up for a game.
Tara is also quite the athlete, participating in both track and basketball while at John Carroll. We plan to spend a lot of time outdoors experiencing the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Tara and I feel truly blessed to have a community such as St. Andrew to accompany and support us on this new journey.
