We think of ways to keep as much as possible from going into our landfills. What can be recycled when things are packaged or unwrapped? What will we do with the financial resources that we receive and use during this month? How can the choices we make be a new beginning? For more information contact Judy Blevins. Our synod Earthkeepers committee has joined with our synod's W-ELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church) board in focusing on water issues during the coming year. Check out the synod’s monthly newsletter online for more info. Monthly Grounds Work:Our outside work days are on the same day as the men’s breakfast. Bring your garden gloves and yard tools and spend a few hours sprucing up our landscape. Library / Book GroupFourth Tuesdays, 7 p.m. in the Library, Room 9.
To learn more about this group, call Carla Beckstrom or Jan Allen. Everyone has been generous with donations of books and our shelves are getting full. We are now asking that donations be only books published in the year 2000 or later. This will let us add timely books as they become available. Other appropriate books may be added to the bookshelves for WHO guests by the pop machine. QuiltersWednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Rooms 7 and 8. This ongoing ministry is an outreach to our community as well as a fellowship group for our members. Newcomers are always welcome—no experience is necessary. Donations of cotton fabric, lightweight yarn and flat sheets are appreciated. Prayer Shawl Ministry GroupThird Thursdays at 10 a.m. and/or 7 p.m. Attend the meeting that fits your schedule. Contact Karen Norton or Janell Renoud for more information. This group ministers to those who have a special need for prayer and support in the church and community. If you knit or crochet, or would like to learn, please join us as we make long prayer shawls of soft yarn to be delivered to people who are ill, have lost a loved one or need a special reminder of God’s love. Each shawl is filled with love and prayers before it is sent out. The group will meet once a month for devotions and to knit/crochet, chat and pray together. Empty NestersCouples and singles meet on the third Friday each month for dinner and fellowship. The evening begins with a meal in a local restaurant and then continues in a member's home for dessert, conversation and table games.
